Attach Your Charm — Phone & Bag Guide
How to Attach Your Charm 🪢
Each charm from Kona's Creations is handmade and built to be shown off — here's how to attach yours safely and securely so it goes everywhere you do.
📱 Attaching to a Phone
My phone doesn't have a lanyard hole — can I still use a charm? Yes! Most modern phones don't have built-in lanyard holes, but there are two easy workarounds:
- Phone case with a lanyard loop: The simplest option — grab a case that has a built-in loop, slot, or ring attachment, then clip or thread your charm right through it. Works with any keychain-style charm.
- Hole strap / lanyard adapter: These are small adhesive or case-mounted straps with a tiny hole at the end. Thread your charm's lobster clasp or split ring through the hole. You can find these on Amazon or at phone accessory shops — search "phone charm strap" or "phone hole strap."
✨ Tip: Make sure the strap or loop is rated for the weight of your charm before attaching. Our keychains are lightweight but worth double-checking!
👜 Attaching to a Bag
Most bags make charm attachment super easy — but here are a few options depending on your bag's hardware:
- D-ring or zipper pull: Just clip the lobster clasp directly onto a D-ring, strap loop, or zipper pull. Quick and secure.
-
Bag with little or no hardware: If your bag doesn't have rings or hardware, you have options:
- Thread a small key fob or ring through a strap slot or seam loop, then attach your charm to that.
- Use a bag charm holder (a small padded clip or strap loop sold separately) that protects the bag while giving you an attachment point.
- Leather bags: For leather bags, avoid clamping directly onto thin leather straps as it can leave marks over time. Clip to metal hardware only, or use a bag charm holder for a no-contact attachment.
🔑 General Charm Care Tips
- Keep away from water — many charms include vintage or upcycled materials that can be sensitive to moisture.
- Avoid extreme heat (car dashboards, direct sunlight) which can affect resin, paint, or glue on decorative elements.
- Give the lobster clasp a little tug before heading out to make sure it's fully closed.
- Store loosely — don't pile charms on top of each other to prevent scratching.
